Robe RoboSpot Base Station: Follow Spots Without the Followspot Operator Problem
Follow spots are great. Putting a human being in a catwalk 80 feet above a stadium floor to operate one is less great. The RoboSpot Base Station exists because someone at Robe looked at that situation and thought there had to be a better way, and they were right.
One operator, ground level, touch screen, up to 12 fixtures running simultaneously. The Base Station feeds live video from the fixture position so the operator sees exactly what the light sees, with full control over pan, tilt, intensity, focus, zoom, frost, and iris in real time. Four jog wheels, two faders, 10 preset buttons, and a 15.6-inch QVGA display make it feel like a console that happens to be pointed at follow spots instead of a wash rig.
Compatibility
RoboSpot works with a substantial chunk of the Robe catalog: BMFL, BMFL Blade, BMFL WashBeam, iForte, Forte, Forte FS, T1 and T2 Profile series, MegaPointe, Pointe, DL7S, DL4S, LEDBeam 150, LEDBeam 350, iBeam 350, MMX WashBeam, and more. If you’re already running Robe fixtures, there’s a good chance RoboSpot works with them.
Connectivity
powerCON True1 power input, locking 3-pin or 5-pin XLR for DMX and RDM, RJ45 Ethernet. Auto-ranging supply handles 100-240V. Draws 15W, which is less than the coffee maker in the production office.
