Robe Pointe: Discharge Hybrid Moving Head for Beam, Spot, Wash, and FX

The Pointe is the fixture that made the industry rethink what a single moving head could do. Robe put a 280W short arc discharge lamp in a compact body and built a complete optical system around it: beam, spot, wash, gobo projection, prism effects, and color all in one unit that cases four to a box. The result was a fixture that showed up on virtually every major touring rig for years and is still earning its place on riders today.

The beam is sharp and parallel with serious aerial punch. The spot mode delivers crisp gobo projection. The wash is smooth and even. And the prism effects are what put it on the map: the 8-facet linear prism and 8-facet circular prism, combined with the color wheel and gobos, produce aerial looks that a conventional beam or spot fixture simply cannot replicate. Need something bigger? R90 also carries the Robe MegaPointe, the next generation of the Pointe concept with substantially more output and an expanded effects package.

Effects and Optics

13 dichroic colors plus white on the color wheel. Nine rotating, indexable, replaceable SLOT&LOCK glass gobos plus open on the rotating gobo wheel, 14 gobos plus open on the static wheel. Prism 1 is an 8-facet circular prism rotating in both directions at variable speeds. Prism 2 is an 8-facet linear prism rotating in both directions at variable speeds. Frost effect is separate and variable. Beam expander, motorized zoom and focus. Dimmer and shutter with full range dimming and variable strobe.
